Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Application-oriented courses combined with a number of laboratory practicals as well as industry-related or highly practical course work. Teaching is accompanied by many mentoring programmes, especially for female engineering students, i.e. programmes in the start of studies and coaching during studies together with female engineers with professional experience. There is also a practical project called "Running Snail Racing Team" in which an interdisciplinary team of students and professors participates in the Formula Student competition.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Application-oriented courses, e.g. with the project-based learning method on current topics from R&D and business. Complementary interdisciplinary and future-oriented courses, such as innovation management, intercultural competence, language modules

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering/Environmental Engineering offers two international Master's degree programmes and has collaborations and research projects with various universities in India, South America, South Korea, China and the Czech Republic. In addition, double degree agreements have been concluded with the Finnish Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa and the University of Pilsen. In addition, there is a cooperation with 31 internationally active companies within the framework of a Partner Circle and innovative learning locations have been founded in India, among other countries.

Special features regarding the equipment

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering/Environmental Engineering has state-of-the-art laboratory equipment in its approx. 30 laboratories (e.g. Competence Centre for Combined Heat and Cooling, Fluid Mechanics with Wind Tunnel, Renewable Energy Systems, Environmental Analysis, Recycling Technology, Materials Science, etc.). This makes practically oriented, up-to-date student training possible. The equipment in the laboratories is continuously upgraded through public funds and externally funded research. The faculty also offers students six computer labs with modern equipment.

Special features regarding research and development

R&D projects in the areas of "Bio- and Environmental Process Engineering", "Digital Mechanical Engineering" and "Energy Engineering"; The Bavarian Centre for "Combined Power, Heat and Cooling"; Technology Transfer Centres Amberg, Schwandorf; Institute of Energy Engineering at the Amberg campus; Numerous expert activities by professors in renowned scientific committees.

Other special features

Small groups to intensify the transfer of knowledge and skills as well as personal atmosphere, practice-oriented training in modern laboratories, top business contacts for optimum career prospects after studying, relaxed housing market and low living costs, 24-hour library, course progress analyses.
