Some of the terminal rooms are equipped with didactic networks for the practical training. Rooms with up-to-date hardware (Linux, Mac and Windows) are open to students. These are always equipped with projectors, and some with interactive whiteboards. There are laboratories with special equipment in the fields of Software Engineering and Networks, Networks, usability, IT security and database systems. A virtualised server infrastructure allows the flexible provision of resources for teaching as well as for practical projects.

Especially for informatics, there is the "Competence Centre for Innovative Information Systems", in which third-party funded projects in the field of applied research, especially in the subject area of "Information Systems for Agriculture", have been successfully carried out for several years. From 2017 to 2020, a research project in the topic area of "electronic payment cards" was carried out as part of an EU project as a project partner of the BKA. As planned, new research projects are now being carried out within the framework of the HHI (Hermann Höpke Institute) of the TH.
