The department receives funds from the "Quality Pact for Teaching" to improve the quality of teaching. Funding is provided for international summer schools, the training of student tutors in higher education didactics, preliminary courses and the expansion of the use of e-/blended learning. In teaching-learning labs, student teachers can gain early experience in interacting and imparting knowledge with pupils.

In cooperation with the CPE Lyon, the faculty offers a German-French double degree; graduates of the Bachelor of Chemistry fulfil the admission requirements for the International Master of Biofabrication; especially in the Master's degree course, a one to two semester stay abroad is possible.

A large number of subject-specific databases as well as specialist literature are available via the Chemistry Departmental Library. The faculty has a large number of modern technical devices at its disposal, e.g. for X-ray structure or elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy or mass spectrometry, as well as the corresponding service departments.
