Special features regarding teaching

The international course of studies Applied & Environmental Geoscience was already established at the department in 1999. In the meantime, students from more than 60 countries have successfully completed the course. Furthermore, the department has been running the Research Training Group "Integrated Hydrosystem Modelling" for several years, a PhD programme in cooperation with the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Relocation of large parts of the faculty to the new building of the Geo and Environmental Research Centre on the natural sciences campus of the university in the summer semester 2020. Equipped with modern laboratories for Applied and Environmental Geosciences, Palaeobiology, Petrology, Geochemistry; mineralogical high-pressure laboratory; grinding and mechanical workshops; preparation; computer rooms; hydrogeological test field Lauswiesen; extensive hydrogeological and geotechnical field equipment.
