Broad research focus areas in data science/machine learning, security and software engineering. Top research in the collaborative research centre and other DFG, federal, state and EU-funded projects; renowned research institutions such as Paderborn Centre for Parallel Computing, Heinz Nixdorf Institute and SICP act as an interface to business; active in exploratory topics such as quantum computing; many interdisciplinary projects, e.g. with economics, mechanical engineering, e-technology, media studies, cultural studies, and participation in the cluster of excellence "It's OWL".
