The individual research projects cover current socio-political issues, such as: Legal aspects of new media, digitalisation and data protection; Digital Justice; Impact of Brexit on Private International Law; Sports law, medical law, international criminal law and energy law. But research is also continuing on the fundamental questions of Law, such as in the History of Law and Constitution, Legal Philosophy, Corporate Law, Trademark Law and Copyright Law.

Support for founders

Students, graduates and academics interested in starting a business have access to a university professor from the Faculty of Law as a “Start-up Ambassador” at the Research & Transfer Service Centre of the University of Jena (K1 Start-up Service) as a point of contact for legal issues. Assistance in connection with the establishment of foundations is provided by the Abbe Institute for Endowments at the Faculty.

Other special features

The Faculty of Law at the FSU Jena is characterised by a wide range of additional courses and further training opportunities in addition to the classic law studies and by a strong practical orientation. For example, Energy Law can produce “energy lawyers”, while the extension course “Labour Law, Organisation and Personnel Management” can lead to a career in human resources management. Evenings with practitioners and career fairs provide insights into the field. Regular get-togethers ensure short communication channels between students and professors.
