Special features regarding teaching

The Maths Meeting Point supports students in the entry phase and a refresher course is offered to first year students each year to ease the transition from school to university. The student-teacher ratio is very good and there are always innovative teaching formats.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Ghent Univ., Belgien; Univ. Montpellier, Frankreich; Iasi Univ., Rumänien; Bratislava Univ., Slowakei; Univ. Autonoma Barcelona, Spanien; Univ. La Laguna, Teneriffa, Spanien

Special features regarding the equipment

The new rooms on the Weinberg campus offer students attractive external conditions (lecture theatres, library, PC rooms, cafeteria), close to the science faculties, everything close by and good transport links. The reconstruction of the building carried out in 2013 has resulted in studying conditions that are even more improved.

Special features regarding research activities

The mathematical research can be summed up by "Dynamics of Complex Systems". This topic unifies the groups of the Institute, which are inevitably distinct in terms of Mathematics. This includes the modelling, analysis and simulation of complex systems which are essential for many areas of modern sciences. Mathematics provides very powerful methods for this. The further development of these methods carried out at the institute forms the basic research and is central for progress within the sciences.
