Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Areas of focus: emotion, health, lifelong development and cognitive neuroscience; All courses are supported by online materials; Some lectures are available online as recordings or are conducted in a hybrid format. Implementation of competence-oriented teaching concepts for blended learning, research-based learning, problem-based learning and learning from solution examples.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

In addition to the research methodological and diagnostic fundamentals of psychological work, the Master's degree programme in Research in Science and Practice teaches, in particular, skills in communicating scientific results, in the field of open science and data science. In the Master's programme in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, the focus is on the practice-oriented teaching of relevant psychotherapy skills and on the diversity of procedures.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Employment of several international doctoral candidates, cooperation with and training of doctoral candidates at North American universities.

Special features regarding the equipment

Several multi-channel EEG laboratories, laboratory for peripheral physiological measurements, video observation laboratory, combined video/physiology (EMG, EDA) laboratory, computer laboratory, several laboratories for automatic movement analysis, eye tracker, virtual reality laboratory and mobile equipment (virtual reality, augmented reality), EMA devices, access to 3 Tesla MRI scanners at the University Medical Centre Greifswald.

Special features regarding research activities

Since 2024, the University of Greifswald, together with the University of Rostock, has been one of seven locations of the German Centre for Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ). The centre offers a wide range of research and educational opportunities for students. In addition, several German Research Foundation (DFG) and Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) third-party-funded projects are currently underway at various chairs (e.g. Health and Prevention, General Psychology, Developmental Psychology).
