Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Broad-based undergraduate studies in the single-subject and double-subject BA in Educational Science; degree qualifies students for: (1) a Master’s degree programme in the field of educational science, specialisation option in particular in the area EB/WB/PE/OE and (2) for entry into professional practice; Competence- and project-oriented teaching with the teaching of research methodological principles and the opportunity to develop, carry out, evaluate and present your own projects, cooperation with profit/non-profit organizations and with the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media

Special features regarding the international orientation

There is an international exchange programme with the University of Rhode Island, USA, and the University of Tennessee at Martin, USA, which enables student exchange as part of a summer school. In addition, the Institute of Educational Science participates in the project "Nurturing Global Citizens through Sustainable Education and Future Learning" in order to jointly design and implement an interdisciplinary concept for the development of a hybrid module package for sustainable development education taught in English within the faculty.

Special features regarding research activities

Fundamentals, applied and evaluation research at the levels of the education system, educational institutions, teaching-learning interaction. The project "Promoting Digital Education through Global Interconnection", for example, promotes and researches the internationalisation of teaching. The German Research Foundation (DFG) project "National Jewish Youth Culture and Zionist Education in Germany and Palestine" investigates the basics of educational history. In the science space, "Core Teaching Practices" are promoted and researched in cooperation with the universities of Hildesheim & Hanover.

Other special features

Numerous research and teaching partnerships: With other subjects (especially Pedagogical Psychology), as part of the Master's degree programme in "Organisation, Governance, Education" (e.g. Sociology), with the Centre of Excellence University Didactics for Lower Saxony, with other universities and non-university research institutions (e.g. Leibniz Institute for Educational Media) as well as profit and non-profit organisations (in the region).
