Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Teaching at our institute is structured with a focus on research and practical application. Students are involved in ongoing research projects at an early stage and have the opportunity to undergo practical training during the bachelor’s degree. We offer our students a variety of specialisation options which allow them to pursue their individual interests. The prerequisites for the Master's degree in Psychotherapy can be acquired by choosing suitable options. It also offers a variety of opportunities to gain insight into other occupational fields.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's degree with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy enables students to train as psychological psychotherapists. Combination of scientific and practical aspects in teaching. Special features regarding the international orientation

The degree course can therefore be structured in such a way that stays abroad and overseas work placements can be combined. The International Office helps with organisation, and the eligibility of the credits gained abroad is checked ahead of time. In addition, international professorial partnerships are in place which students can benefit from.

Special features regarding the equipment

All seminar rooms are equipped with modern presentation and video technology. Students have access to laboratories, computer workstations, scanners and plotters. Due to the research focuses of the individual departments, we also offer a broad range of technical equipment including driving simulator, eye-tracker, biofeedback device, mobile EEG and special software for interaction analysis, emotion detection and voice analysis which students can experiment with in seminars and research groups, in their final theses as well as in their roles as tutors and academic assistants.

Special features regarding research activities

The predominant projects in Occupational and Organisational Psychology are on skill measurement and development, career & coaching, team & leadership and organisational development. In Clinical Psychology, research projects are running on partnership and family issues, addiction and consequences or prevention of abuse. Transport Psychology deals with the strain and demands of driving, driver assistance systems and causes of accidents. The psychology of socio-technical systems considers psychological and social factors that influence action in and with socio-technical systems.

Other special features

It is very important for us that our students have good initial study phase. During the first study semester students find out all about the psychology degree at Braunschweig and have the opportunity to get to know each other, student tutors from higher semesters and our lecturers. This introduction has been rated for years as one of the best measures for finding your way into your studies (if all participants are fully surveyed). The overall organisation of the course always receives positive ratings.
