Special features regarding teaching

Intensive supervision of students, close links between teaching and research projects, close links between clinical psychology training and the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic, numerous project courses in cooperation with practical placements, e.g. in industry, student conference on practical empirical studies, close collaboration between students and teaching staff, high-quality student advice and counselling for students, highly active departmental student organisation.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Whether in the Bachelor’s, Master’s or doctoral programmes, we encourage our students in psychology to pursue semesters abroad and actively support them in planning and implementing these periods of time, as well as internships abroad. The institute maintains a large number of appealing university partnerships internationally with this in mind. We also offer a variety of events in English to prepare students for the international labour market. The Psychological Institute also has an Erasmus coordinator of its own.

Special features regarding the equipment

Use of ultra-modern laboratories for research and practical empirical studies, high-quality PC workstations for students in the institute’s PC pool; access to a variety of topic-specific databases via the Thuringian University and State Library Jena (ThULB)

Special features regarding research activities

Participation of the Institute in the Deutsches Zentrum für Seelische Gesundheit, the Center for Lifespan Developmental Science (CELISE), in the DFG long-term project ‘pairfam’ (German panel on families and relationships) and in the Zentrum für Rechtsextremismusforschung, Demokratiebildung und gesellschaftliche Integration (KomRex). Mention should also be made of the collaborative projects ‘Merkmalsintegration und -abruf in der Handlungssteuerung’ (DFG) and IMPULS (Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung). Furthermore, a joint project with the Ilmenau University of Technology is planned on the topic of ‘Thüringer Hochschulinitiative für KI im Studium’ (BMBF).
