Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The faculty offers students broad, subject-specific, expert training using various teaching formats. There are opportunities for specific specialisation (particularly in: Business Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology (Adults, Children and Adolescents)). Teaching is closely linked with current research and independent research projects. Students learn to work and generate knowledge independently and to describe, reflect on and evaluate tasks and issues systematically. APPR

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's degree courses are characterised by extremely research-oriented lecturers. All degree courses are state-of-the-art and provide lifelong professional and scientific skills.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Faculty of Psychology has outstanding international links. Erasmus agreements have been concluded with 23 universities. With its Master of Cognitive Science, the faculty has submitted an English-language interdisciplinary degree programme. The faculty is also involved in the International Graduate School of Neuroscience. The faculty is part of the international university consortium UNIC – European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition. An association of ten universities dedicated to the promotion of student mobility and social integration.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty has a large number of excellently equipped laboratory rooms (EEG systems, eye-tracking systems, genetic analysis equipment, electrophysiology, virtual reality, etc.), as well as sufficient evaluation and therapy rooms. The technical equipment is state-of-the-art. The faculty has its own well-equipped departmental library and test library. There is (electronic) access to all relevant journals. It also has its own workshop, which designs and manufactures mechanical and electronic examination equipment as required.

Special features regarding research activities

The faculty is home to, among others, a Leibniz Prize winner Prof. Dr. Onur Güntürkün and a Humboldt Professorship Prof. Dr. Jürgen Margraf. All chairs have high-profile research projects (ERC Grants, Collaborative Research Centre of the German Research Foundation, DFG Research Group, DFG Priority Programme, etc.). It is carried out at the Faculty of Animal and Human Experimental Research as well as clinical research. Business psychology, cognitive neuroscience and clinical psychology are the focus areas. The faculty is part of the German Centre for Mental Health.

Other special features

The faculty has a professorship in Social Psychology and Sustainability. The faculty has Diversity and Equal Opportunities Officers representing students and staff. The faculty is part of the German Centre for Mental Health. The faculty is publicly visible in various mental health topics (radio, television, podcast, etc.)
