Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The Institute of Psychology has a tradition of empirical natural science and focuses on the areas of "Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience", "Human Developmental Dynamics" and "Methods/Diagnostics". Students benefit from modern laboratory and equipment technology, which is used in mobile and stationary teaching. Participation in collaborative projects (e.g. Einstein Centres, Bernstein Centre, Berlin Age Study II) and collaborations in the Berlin area enable a wide range of theses. The degree course bears the quality seal of the German Psychological Society.

The institute offers 62 Erasmus places per year in cooperation with 38 universities in 15 countries, mostly in degree programmes taught in English. In addition, it is possible to study abroad at partner universities of Humboldt University in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and North America.

Special features regarding the equipment

The institute has an excellent equipment and laboratory infrastructure: Own MRI scanner (Siemens 3T Prisma Fit) at the Berlin Centre for Advanced Neuroimaging (Charité site), state-of-the-art EEG technology in ten soundproofed, magnetically shielded and air-conditioned booths, psychophysics laboratories, systems for pupil and eye tracking as well as peripheral physiological measurements. A virtual reality laboratory, baby laboratory, group laboratories (30 m²), a PC cluster (61 m²) and an institute-wide high-performance computer cluster provide a first-class research environment.

The Institute of Psychology has followed an empirical and scientific tradition since its foundation. The research focuses on "Clinical and Cognitive Neurosciences", "Human Developmental Dynamics" and "Methods/Diagnostics". Supported by third-party funding from project alliances, Clusters of Excellence and postgraduate schools as well as national and international funding, the institute is also excellently networked through strong participation in collaborative projects and various partnerships.
