Special features regarding teaching

Generalist study programme with the opportunity to specialise (e.g. Entrepreneurial Management, Accounting & Digital Data Science, Human Resources and Organisation, Financial Services, Corporate Tax Theory and Tax Law; Courses are of outstanding quality thanks to the close personal supervision of students and the use of active learning and teaching methods; Case study competitions, own empirical projects); key occupational skills are taught; Modules from other faculties (Art and Cultural Management, Business Psychology) can be taken.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Many elective modules are also held in English. At the same time, our university offers a range of language courses – from beginners to professional level. And for those who want to spend one or more semesters abroad, there are numerous exchange programmes with partner universities around the world. Here, tutorials for preparing the stay abroad are offered and a simplified crediting of study achievements abroad is guaranteed. Furthermore, international visiting lecturers are invited regularly.

Special features regarding the equipment

Optimum learning/teaching atmosphere in the Department of Economics, a fantastic new building with state-of-the-art infrastructure (e.g. video/projector systems, monitor systems, document cameras) and separate groups/seminar rooms, sufficient places for students at any level; numerous study laptops; use of a variety of databases, SPSS, Eviews for writing study projects and final theses.

Special features regarding research activities

The research profile is characterised by interdisciplinary, theoretical, quantitative and qualitative-empirical research in various areas. Business Administration conducts research in a graduate school on the competitiveness of young companies. Other BMBF-funded research projects include digitalisation, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, stress prevention and consumer protection.

Support for founders

In the compulsory elective area, lectures and practical seminars on the subject of start-ups and start-up financing are held at Bachelor's level, but especially at Master's level. In addition, there is a strong link to the CEDUS of HHU, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Düsseldorf, which is committed to a vibrant, collaborative start-up culture both at the university and in the region.

Diverse range of exchange programmes for semesters abroad through cooperation agreements with foreign universities e.g. in France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and the USA; Young, dynamic faculty; outstanding learning environment in one of the best libraries in Germany; Crediting of course performance towards the auditor’s examination is possible according to Section 13b Auditors’ Code (WPO).
