Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The degree course was awarded the German Engineering Association (VDMA) university prize for "Best Machine Hall 2015", a programme for academic success in Mechanical Engineering. We offer supportive learning opportunities (Long Night of Mathematics, online learning platform and tutorials) throughout the degree course. You can follow all courses digitally or benefit from small class sizes on site. The entire course is characterised by a high level of practical relevance and integrated exercises. The high level of practical relevance is guaranteed by the large number of lecturers from industry as well as excursions.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Long-standing partnerships are in place with many international universities. Master's students have the opportunity to complete part of their studies at the University of South Wales and thereby acquire a double degree. Students who wish to do their practical semester abroad have access to the contacts of the degree programme and receive extensive support from the department's international adviser.

Special features regarding the equipment

The degree programme provides access to laboratories for all sub-disciplines of mechanical engineering. The technical equipment includes a virtual reality laboratory, a laboratory for autonomous systems, a hydro pulser, computer systems with a range of calculation and simulation programs, all common processing machines, surface analytics and a laboratory for lightweight construction and fibre-reinforced plastics. In addition, students of the course run a 3D printing laboratory where fellow students can create their own CAD designs and implement them.

Special features regarding research and development

Construction of an Industry 4.0 production cell; Development of autonomous vehicles for industrial applications, e.g. in the context of the Industry 4.0 automation concept; Design, production and testing of fibre-reinforced lightweight structures; Zim project "Laser cutting method for the separation of living cell tissue" (cell culture robot); EMOKO project "Development of a mobile collaboration environment" (digitisation in the field of cooperative collaboration); DiP (Digital Product Lifecycle); Bilateral projects in the field of durability.

Other special features

The degree programme offers a personal atmosphere and direct contact between students and professors with a high degree of practical relevance. The Career Centre supports students' transition to a professional career through a good network and a wide range of further qualification opportunities. Students can also take part in many excursions, company visits and trade fair visits on top of their regular classes. Die Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences is a certified family-friendly university. Flexible part-time studies are possible and will be coordinated with you individually.
