Special features regarding teaching

Courses are mostly seminars or exercises where the content is worked on through discourse; Lectures are the exception. Most of the courses are taught by professors of the faculty (around 85%). The practical phases (orientation practical, professional practice semester, practical project) are accompanied by brainstorming sessions at the university. For Bachelor's students in the 5th/ In the 6th semester, interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary integrative elective courses (so-called "Studium Integrale") are offered in mixed course groups.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The Department of Social Work of the EAH Jena is a member of the Erasmus network "SocNet 98" in which 17 European universities have joined forces. Each year, the International University Week (IUW) takes place at 3 locations, where students and teachers of all participating universities come together to talk about current topics. Individual semesters abroad at always possible as part of the SocNet 98 network.

Other special features

The Social Affairs department has a theatre and improvisation group. The student working group "Respawn" deals with computer games and computer education and organises the annual "Games Night" at the Social Affairs department. All courses in every semester are evaluated by students online; once a year, the general study conditions are evaluated. The results are published on the intranet, accessible to the department, and discussed with teachers and students as part of a departmental session in order to identify potential for improvement and derive measures from it.
