Other special features

The institute has been in existence since 1952; it is one of the most renowned in Germany. As part of many third-party funded projects, intensive research is carried out on the triad of topics democracy, peace and development. Teaching is based on theory and methodology training which is empirically-oriented, but also theory-related and pluralist. The IfP maintains a "welcome culture" and provides a friendly atmosphere. The distances between students and lecturers are short. Just as for the POLIS sponsorship association, the departmental student organisation is intensively involved in the work of the Institute.
