Special features regarding teaching

The special characteristics of teaching include new teaching and learning formats, such as the "inverted classroom", simulations, educational games, professional application software, educational videos, interactive teaching (technically supported by response systems) and a learning management platform. Some subject-specific lectures are taught in English. Regular lectures by renowned international visiting professors are offered. Support for participation in competitions (e.g. University Trading Challenge, Audit Challenge) reflects the close link between students and teachers.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The department maintains a large network of partner universities around the world; In addition to the regular semester abroad, students also have the option of earning a dual degree with some of the partner universities. Intensive student exchange thanks to around 150 incoming and outgoing students each year. International Week offers a varied programme of lectures and presentations with guests from our partner universities and opportunities for personal contacts. Internationally oriented courses (including by international visiting professors) and business languages are central components of the course programmes.

Special features regarding the equipment

The faculty moved into the new building in 2011. All rooms are equipped with two projectors (mostly laser projectors), network-connected computers and modern media technology. There are plenty of document cameras available. A Logistics laboratory with specialised technical equipment (KANBAN rack, RFID gate). Three computer labs with modern computer equipment (a total of approx. 80 workstations), one of which with specialised equipment as a finance & research lab (dual screens and trader keyboards); Current standard and special software (MS Office, SPSS, R/RStudio, SAP, DATEV, MATLAB, etc.).

Special features regarding research activities

There are practice projects integrated into the curriculum as research projects, which are conducted jointly with students. HSA_ops, the research group in the field of materials management & logistics, is a further special feature. It consists of three professors from the faculty and is supported by research assistants who work on projects in the form of the Master of Applied Research. There are publications by all professors on various functional or industrial topics relating to business administration, especially environmental economics & areas of business psychology.

Support for founders

The hsa_funkenwerk department deals with company start-ups that result from university or university-related projects and initiatives. Activities: Start-up consultation hours, lectures (integrated in Business Administration and IM), Hörsaal der Löwen (“Lion’s Lecture Hall”, where students present their start-up ideas); Start-up coaching, set-up of network of contacts; Support with funding applications, installation of a Start-up Ambassador for the faculty. Specialisation modules in Business Administration/IM: Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Management, Digital Value Creation, Managing Data-Driven Business Models, Business Administration/IM projects: Project series "City in Use", Master’s in MMD: Business Planning course, etc.

Other special features

Sustainability: The interdisciplinary sustainability module "Sustainable Campus" developed in the faculty was awarded the Teaching Innovation Award of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art in 2022; Many transfer projects in the field of sustainability; Sustainability Day within the course "Outsourcing & Controlling", simulation game on the German sustainability strategy is played in the block week (BA Business Administration and IM), continuing education of teaching staff in the field of education for sustainable development; Diversity: In September 22, the AUX-divers symposium took place, which shed more light on diversity.
