Target group

The consecutive Master's course is a scientific course of study leading to an additional professionally qualifying degree based on the first professionally qualifying degree. It aims to convey in-depth scientific knowledge in the field of Meteorology. The main goal of the Master's program is to enable graduates to work efficiently and independently in physical or meteorological research or on the innovation front within technology and business.

Annotation

There is a year-round application for the Master's degree in Meteorology (M.Sc.) (see https://www.studium.uni-mainz.de/ganzjaehrige-bewerbung/). Applications are submitted via the student service at the University of Mainz. If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be proven: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: Officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

Admission requirements

Bachelor's degree in Meteorology with a grade of at least 3.0 or an equivalent degree from a university in Germany or abroad. In the case of a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology with a lower grade than 3.0 or a Bachelor's degree in a subject other than Meteorology (non subject-related academic degree), a selection interview is required. No German language proficiency is required for the Meteorology Master's degree course. Instead, evidence of very good active English language proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference must be provided.
