Sinology in Tübingen uniquely combines competences to research and teach about China’s role in the emerging world society of the modern era (16th to 19th centuries) as well as modern and contemporary China, including Taiwan. This is done with philological, cultural and sociological methods. The aim of the four-semester course is the development of academically sound expertise in China at the height of time. The characteristic feature of the Tübingen Master’s degree in Sinology/Chinese Studies is the three-pronged combination of solid consolidation of language skills, a wide range of content-related teaching events and the attractive opportunity to study a semester abroad, with full of credits, at one of the renowned partner universities of Tübingen in Chinese-speaking countries.
