Target group

The MSc course in Psychology with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy qualifies graduates to work as psychologists and, in particular, as psychotherapists. Graduates fulfil the requirements for admission to the state examination and thus for obtaining the licence to practise medicine. To this end, the Master's degree imparts not only in-depth methodological and scientific knowledge but also theoretical knowledge and, in particular, psychotherapeutic and practical professional skills, with due regard for patient safety and patient rights. The course prepares students for independent work in selected professional fields with a clinical-psychological and psychotherapeutic focus, especially in health and social services, but also in science.

Admission requirements

Admission to the Master's degree in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy is only possible for students who can prove that they have completed a relevant degree course with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters (total 180 CP), that they have obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology or a degree recognised as equivalent, and that they have professional recognition in accordance with the Psychotherapists Act and that they comply with the Licensing Regulations for Psychotherapists. Subject-relevant studies are those that meet the criteria of the study regulations.
