Target group

The consecutive Master's course is a scientific course of study leading to an additional professionally qualifying degree based on the first professionally qualifying degree. It aims to convey in-depth scientific knowledge in the field of meteorology. The aim of the Master's degree course in Physics is to expand on training in Experimental and Theoretical Physics and for students to specialise in a sub-area of Physics related to research.

Annotation

If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

Admission requirements

(1) Applicants to the Master's in Physics will be admitted who have the required educational background. This requires proof of a Bachelor's degree in physics with a grade of at least 2.5 or an equivalent degree from a university in Germany or another country. In addition, we expect applicants to have equivalent credits in the following areas of the Bachelor’s in Physics at JGU Mainz. These credentials must comprise at least: 30 credit points in the module area Experimental Physics, 19 credit points in the module area Internships, 25 credit points in the module area Theoretical Physics, 23 credit points in the module area Advanced Mathematics and Calculation Methods, 9 credit points for the written Bachelor thesis.
