Special features regarding the library

The libraries of the HAW Hamburg are centrally organised in the university information and library service (HIBS). A total of over 200,000 printed and electronic media are available in the 5 specialist libraries of the HIBS. The technical engineering and computer science library is also the official DIN standards repository. In addition to various databases, e-magazines and e-books, a whole range of search tools are available online. Regular training courses are held for students, among other things, to convey information.

Foreign language center and courses

There is no foreign language centre. Languages offered: English, French, German as a foreign language, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese.

Special features regarding university sports

The university offers its own sports programme. Participation is subject to fees. Hamburg University of Applied Sciences is a partner university for top-level sports in Hamburg and helps top student athletes master the requirements of study and performance training while flexibly coordinating time commitments associated with training and competitions, on the one hand, and e.g. exam dates on the other. Right at the centre of the Berliner Tor campus is an ultramodern health and fitness studio that offers the best possible sporting facilities. The fitness studio has around 60 high-tech machines, washrooms, changing rooms and a university sports office. Sports: The university sports programme in Hamburg presents an attractive range of sporting activities. In addition to approx. 350 sports courses per semester, there are fitness courses in the three university sports studios, numerous sports trips and weekend courses.
