Practice-oriented learning methods such as laboratories, project work, business games and internships, offers from the Department of Engineering Didactics such as creativity workshops as part of the Engineers Without Borders Challenge, learning laboratories etc.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Event programme of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with International Day (lectures on studying, doing a doctorate and working abroad, exchange formats for incomings and outgoings), intercultural training (workshop programme); personal advice from the Faculty for study visits abroad and international students through the International Coordinator, credits for courses taken abroad, awareness-raising and qualification of students and graduates for work in international contexts, meeting programme of the International Office.

Several CIP pools in the faculty with various software applications, machine halls with test stands, makerspace, remote laboratories, innovation laboratory, cooperation with research institutes such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics.

The inter-disciplinary focus of the course of study is also maintained with respect to research and development. In this way, synergies created from the various departments during the course of study will continue to be used and expanded.

Support for founders

TU Dortmund initiates, funds and honours company start-ups and transfer from science. It actively supports its students, graduates and employees in the development and implementation of business ideas, in the evaluation, registration and exploitation of inventions and patents, and in the transfer of knowledge and technology. The many offers and measures are bundled in the Centre for Entrepreneurship & Transfer.
