At the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, dual vocational training and Bachelor's degrees are interlinked. The idea is to place the three places of learning on an equal footing: demanding practical skills in the company, broad knowledge of the entire vocational field in the vocational school, academic skills and scientific basis in the university. This close integration reduces duplication and allows for two degrees in four years. Accompanied by coaching, the students decide after 18 months whether to continue on the path to a double degree or to complete the training alone.
