Special features regarding teaching

Bachelor / Master programmes taught entirely in English. Excellent student-professor ratio of 12:1. Interactive lessons in small groups of up to 40 students. Blended learning. Strong practical component with regular involvement of visiting lecturers with professional experience. Direct linking of research expertise and teaching. Over 40% international students. Three-month mandatory internship and one semester abroad. Consistent evaluation of all courses for quality assurance. All lecturers have extensive international experience.

Special features regarding the international orientation

The course content has a global nature. The extensive international experience of the lecturers with the multicultural student body complement each other. English is the language in lectures, events and on campus. One semester abroad is mandatory in the curricula of the Bachelor / Master programmes. The compulsory work placements in the respective curricula can be completed abroad. Specialisations are possible, for example the Bachelor's Profile "International Management".

Housed in a building specially renovated in 2013 for the needs of the KLU, classrooms equipped with smartboards, projectors and laptops, transmission options on indoor and outdoor displays, large format displays, media technology for lecture recording, internal information and teaching platform Moodle + MyKLUCampus, remote access, access on over 27 specialist databases, comprehensive discovery search for full texts, complete online library catalogue, e-learning area, KLU publication database, access to more than 10,000 e-journals and 27,000 e-books.

Special features regarding research activities

International research focus, membership in various international networks and professional associations, presentations of research results at international conferences, numerous publications in internationally recognized A + journals, linking of logistics, supply chain management and operations with aspects of leadership and management, research projects with well-known companies, research collaborations with other universities, integration of current research results in teaching, theses related to current research projects of the faculty.

Support for founders

Founder advice; Collaboration with regional economic development agencies; Logistics start-up initiative; Start-up Day: Multi-day event with over 60 start-up companies from IT and logistics, incorporation of the Start-up Day into several courses; Different modules with various start-up topics are offered: Innovation and New Business Ventures, Sustainable New Product Development and Design Thinking, New Product Development and Pricing; Professors with their own experience in starting companies incorporate their expertise into the lectures.

Other special features

The students of the KLU are not organised into classic departmental student organisations. They play an active role in academic self-administration and contribute to university life according to the Anglo-American model through groups and committees. The interests of the students are represented to teaching staff and administration through year group representatives. Thanks to regular feedback sessions with all students in each year, it is ensured that student concerns are made public and taken into account. The open and constructive interaction of all areas is particularly noteworthy.
