Individual design of the chosen specialisation in Building Systems or Energy Systems; High project and practical orientation through two large projects and a practical semester promotes the ability to work in a team and communication of work results; Holistic system analyses in planning and operation of buildings and plants; Interdisciplinary links to architecture and industrial biotechnology; Courses offered in the cross-section skills module enable students to develop their own personality; Professors and teachers have contact with a broad-based network among experts.

Broad network of partner universities in different regions with institutional contacts in Sweden, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belarus, Poland, Finland, Mexico, Jordan, Chile and the United States of America; The "Bachelor International" study model is a study semester as well as a practical semester abroad; Summer school held regularly; Regular short term exchange; International master's degree model from 2019; The "Master International" degree model is currently being set up.

Special features regarding the equipment

Many laboratories with the latest technical equipment enable practicals alongside lectures in the basic subjects and 3 advanced laboratory practicals in Stage II studies. The computer centre has high-quality student computer workstations (average of 10 students per PC), general and subject-specific programmes as well as peripherals such as printers, plotters, scanners, digital cameras, projectors. For subject-specific tasks, students have additional PCs with special software available in the various laboratories.

Special features regarding research and development

Large range of topics in the field of climate-friendly and energy-efficient building, energy-efficient and cost-effective facility engineering, automation, innovative and renewable energy systems as well as rational energy use; There are currently several research projects underway in the field of energy of the university association InnoSÜD. The Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre (ITZ+) with focus on energy and biotechnology is currently being set up. Students can participate in research projects of the institute; The results are directly incorporated into teaching.
