Some of the faculty's teaching personnel participate in the joint project "HD-MINT" to further improve study conditions in MINT subjects; this concerns a federal/state programme for better study conditions and greater quality in teaching; manageable study group size, good staff-student ratio; "Open Learning Workshop" (university support programme); faculty tutorial programme to gain suitable student tutors and keep them for the longer term

Special features regarding the equipment

19 relevant labs in the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Media and Computer Science in the area of basic principles and applications of Computer Science, with the latest technical equipment for practical training in small groups; including a newly equipped "Media Informatics Lab" in the context of the in-depth study of "Media Informatics", in addition to its own laboratory for the execution of software projects based on reality (e.g. for the specialisation in Industrial Computer Science) with recently renewed equipment that is state-of-the-art; mobile robots and elaborate equipment for current R&D projects.

Support for founders

Project "Digital Startup Initiative Upper Palatinate (DGO)" for coaching start-ups from the university, funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, combined with start-up space of around 400 sqm and networking events, cooperation with companies in the region in co-financing this project.

Other special features

As "IT architects", the technical equipment enables students to programme clear software structures, using modern software technologies and with the integration of software and hardware to robust complete systems. Computer Science engineers implement their analytical, creative and communication skills in equal measure in order to solve challenging tasks in high-tech development or in IT projects which are often international. With the available technology state-of-the-art, there are excellent career prospects in the design of industrial IT processes.
