Special features regarding teaching

A curriculum designed according to topics with inter-disciplinary, coordinated courses; in addition to traditional lectures and practicals, clinical practice and patient orientation from the first semester onwards; students have the option to design the learning process themselves in small learning and working groups in the area of problem-related learning; particularly practical clinical training due to the special structure of the clinic (with more than 5600 beds for patients, one of the largest in Europe) not only in high performance medicine, but also in standard care; short study periods.

Arrangements of special exercises at the department

Skills labs exist at seven locations for free practise on simulation models, simulated training units and extracurricular training opportunities. Simulators are available for resuscitation and airway training, placement of intraosseous access, lumbar puncture, CVC placement, blood sampling, auscultation and laparoscopy. A further 12 small group rooms with video recording from two perspectives are available for conversation simulations. A pool of acting patients includes 24 people. In addition, there are another 8 SPs, which are only available for simulations in certain cases.
