Special features regarding teaching

The faculty offers a wide range of in-depth study opportunities in the fields of Algebra and Geometry, Analysis, Applied and Numerical Mathematics and Stochastics, which is of interest in the three Master's courses in particular. The number of possible fields of application is also large due to the wide range of courses offered at KIT. The Master's course in Business Mathematics is offered in conjunction with the Faculty of Economics. The training in the teaching qualification benefits from a very good link to schools due to the school pupil laboratory.

Exchange universities for stay abroads

Uni Stockholm, Uni Linköping, Uni Leuwen, UniRennes, Uni Oslo, Uni Grenoble, Uni Marseille

Special features regarding the equipment

For research and teaching, the Faculty will have approx. 20 seminar rooms with projectors and whiteboards. Amongst these, there will also be a lecture room that is suitable for internet conferences. In addition, the faculty will have computer rooms for computer training. At KIT, a number of mathematical software licenses are freely available to students (Maple, Mathlab...). All rooms are fully accessible.

Special features regarding research activities

The research activities at the faculty cover many areas of mathematics. Three main subjects: Partial Differential Equations; Geometry, Groups and Topology; Stochastic Models; Collaborative Research Centre Wave Phenomena with integrated Graduate School; Graduate School in Geometry/Topology; in addition, many individual projects are carried out individually and with colleagues at other faculties and universities worldwide. The KIT Centre "MathSEE" (Mathematics in Sciences, Engineering and Economics) bundles interdisciplinary mathematical research at KIT since October 2018.
