Special features regarding teaching

Well-founded introduction through propaedeutics, introductions to methods, introductory lectures in the sub-fields (BA) and lecture series (MA). In addition, there are numerous specialisation options also in sociology and international guest lectures in all sub-disciplines of the subject. Research internships or business games enable the linking of theory and (research) practice. The aim of the teaching is the communication of content-based and methodological skills as well as the ability to work independently in accordance with scientific principles and to reflect critically on social contexts.

Special features regarding research activities

The Frankfurter Institut für Politikwissenschaft (Frankfurt Institute for Political Science) is characterised in its research by its combination of diversity and quality, which is unique in Germany. This is made clear by the outstanding contributions to publications as well from the strength of third-party funding of the Institute. The research focuses extend across all sub-areas of the subject, with a particular weighting on the topics of "Transnational Power and Opposition", "Justice and Legitimacy in a Transnational Perspective," "Comparative Democracy Research" and "Comparative Capitalism Research".

Support for founders

The Unibator is the "breeding ground for innovation" at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. It supports students, staff and alumni in the conversion of scientific findings and resulting business ideas into marketable products and services. Founders go through an 18-month start-up programme with the goal of developing a validated and scalable business model.
