Annotation

The Bachelor’s degree programme ‘Biology’ combines a broad basic biological education with the option of autonomous and independent study design, which allows either an early specialisation or a generalisation of the study content. In the first two semesters, the students receive a comprehensive overview of all disciplines of biology as well as basic knowledge in chemistry, mathematics and physics in compulsory basic modules. In the following year, four advanced biological modules provide students with advanced knowledge, whereby students can choose from a variety of modules according to their interests. The third year marks the specialisation phase with a specialisation and practical module as well as the Bachelor’s thesis. The degree programme offers the opportunity to combine the biological modules with courses offered by other faculties of the Philipps-Universität Marburg, thus giving biology studies a very personal profile, which may be related to practice or work or to further Master’s programmes.
