In the Materials Science degree course, all the theoretical and applied scientific principles for the production and application of innovative materials are taught. Since the material properties primarily result from the chemical and physical properties of their individual components and the specific production process, Chemistry and Physics are the central basic sciences of the degree course. The boundaries between these two areas are flexible however, so that the science of modern materials represents a crossover discipline.
