Target group

The programme Master of Business Administration Health Care Management of the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena is aimed at professionals and executives of health and social care facilities as well as at persons, especially those in the medical field, who are looking for an executive position in health and social care facilities and who have successfully completed a first university degree (Bachelor or Master degree, degree from a university, college or university of applied sciences). This programme, unique in Thuringia, aims to systematically provide participants with all the knowledge and skills needed to take on managerial positions in health and social services, particularly hospitals.

Annotation

The knowledge and skills imparted within the framework of this continuing education Master's degree will enable you to pursue a management position in healthcare and social institutions, specially in hospitals. The Health Care Management degree in Jena is aimed in particular at doctors or other employees in medical institutions. As a result, the MBA allows graduates to work towards management positions in middle and senior management of health care facilities. An alternative to this path could be the scientific career. With an MBA, a doctorate can be started at the university. A career in public service is also conceivable. Here, the degree enables entry into higher service.

Admission requirements

Prerequisite for admission to the course of study is subject to possession of a degree in the area of health economics, particularly in the medical field, gained at a higher education institution, or a degree with at least 210 ECTS points recognised as equivalent or better, and at least one year of professional experience in companies or organisations following completion of university education. Proof of knowledge of the English language must also be provided (e.g. Abitur - general higher-education entrance qualification - or TOEFL test with 72 points). For foreign applicants, proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language is also required. If the number of applicants exceeds the planned number of admissions, applicants will be admitted on the basis of the final grade of their initial university education.
