The residence is opposite from the University clinic, and around 3.5 kilometres away from the RWTH Aachen main buildings. 479 students live in eight, ten and 16 person flats across six houses. Every residence has his/her own lockable room with a surface area of 14.8 square metres.

Rent deposit

Upon signing of the rental contract a deposit of two months rent must be deposited. This deposit will be fully refunded at the end of the rental period if there is no damage to the room. Accrued interest will be invested in maintenance.

There is a Hit supermarket five minutes away, with a bakery and flower shop, which is open until ten o'clock in the evening. Directly next to it are, amongst others pharmacies, opticians, doctors and a bank. A post office is opposite on Vaalser Straße.

Application requirements

Students who can apply are those:
- enrolled at an Aachen or Jülich institute of higher education
- enrolled at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, department Aachen
- who will start studies next semester

You can apply at up to three halls of residence simultaneously. Applications must be made to the halls directly.

Application deadline

You should begin your application as soon as you know that you want to study in Aachen, even if you are not yet an enrolled student. It makes no difference for your application if you want to study at the University or at the University of Applied Sciences.

After the Studierendenwerk has received your online application, you will get a confirmation email. The application is completed after you have confirmed the link sent in that email.

Exchange students or scholarship holders

The RWTH Aachen International Office has arranged a limited allotment of rooms in the dorms with Studierendenwerk Aachen. You can also apply for one of these rooms online. Please note that there is a separate housing portal for this allotment of rooms. Since these rooms are not open to all international students, the International Office will inform you separately and you will receive an email containing further information about how to apply for one of these rooms as well as the link for the online application.

Nearest stop/station (public transportation): The Uniklink and Kullenhofstraße bus stops (3A/B, 4, 5, 32, 33, 45, 70, 73, 80, und 103), from which buses 3B, 33 und 73 need 12 minutes to get to the Haltestelle Audimax - in the mornings a bus to the university leaves every six to eight minutes. Buses 25, 30, 35, 45,50 and 55 leave from the bus stop on the back of the building on Vaalser Strasse every five to 15 minutes, heading towards Vaals and the city centre
