The programme is geared towards second- and third-year Bachelor's students with backgrounds in business, economics, business informatics, and business engineering. Students should have an interest in topics related to sustainability.
Sustainability has become a central topic in virtually all industries today. Environmental issues such as global warming, increasing waste and pollution, and depletion of natural resources, as well as societal issues like health, safety, equity, and fairness, challenge existing product concepts, processes, and business models. Many firms struggle to understand the implications for their existing business and find it difficult to realign their business while remaining profitable and competitive. A thorough understanding of the sustainability discourse along the triple-bottom line (financial, social, environmental) is therefore a general prerequisite for managing the modern issues that affect companies and for addressing stakeholder demands for better sustainability measurement and reporting.
For students, it is therefore essential to enter the business world well-prepared through an understanding of the impact of business on the environment and society. New paradigms, theoretical concepts, skills, and tools are required. Students who have this knowledge at their fingertips are highly sought after by firms and can become powerful drivers of sustainable change.
KLU (Kühne Logistics University) is uniquely positioned in the university landscape, bringing together profound expertise in theoretical and practical aspects of sustainability from multiple disciplines, including innovation and marketing, supply chain management, leadership, business economics, and logistics.
The main objective of the KLU Summer School programme is to equip students with valuable knowledge and tools from different disciplinary angles while always staying focused on sustainability as the overarching business theme.
Who is it for? The three-week summer school programme is targeted towards second- and third-year Bachelor's students with business, economics, business informatics, and business engineering backgrounds.
