DAAD Letter 1/2015

MAGDALENA KOZIAK-PODSIADŁO, Kunsthochschule Krakau, Polen I WOULD LIKE to send you my warmest greetings from Aachen, where I am doing my PhD research. I arrived in Germany during the second week of June. Then I began my PhD at Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen. Everything went very smoothly, although I did have a little trouble finding an apartment. After one month I had settled in well, and I can now concentrate fully on my PhD research without any disturbances. I would like to send a sincere thank you for your organ isational assistance and support. The DAAD Office in Hanoi is extremely supportive. We all highly ap preciated the D-AcADemy seminars, the outdoor (pic nic) and indoor (karaoke) activities and the scholar ship award ceremony. Thank you for giving us an unforgettable time before we began working for our “academic dream”, a PhD degree, in Germany. I hope I will remain in contact with you in the future. I wish you all the best for your work in Vietnam. VU ANH TUAN aus Vietnam, Doktorand am Fraunhofer- Institut für Produktionstechnologie IPT in Aachen My scientific life in Germany started with a DAAD fellowship at TU Berlin. After completing postdoctoral training at Har- vard, I am now back in Germany as a junior professor. One of my students has been awarded a DAAD fellowship to complete his PhD in my lab. That’s why I decided to update you on how a DAAD fellowship changed my life. DR. JAY GOPALAKRISHNAN aus Indien, Forschungs- leiter am Zentrum für Molekulare Medizin, Köln „THIS FIRST VISIT TO GERMANY WAS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY, AND WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THE DAAD FOR PROVIDING THE GENEROUS FUNDING.
