Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

BTU is trying to make the difficult transition from school to theoretically demanding studies easier by setting up a college. As part of this, interested students are targeted in several phases with relevant projects at school, followed by preparation courses in Mathematics and Mechanics to eliminate any gaps in knowledge, and students are later supervised in individual programmes. In addition, experimental procedures, analytical observation and numerical implementation are linked together in introductory projects.

Special features regarding the equipment

Particularly high-performance laboratories in the field of power plant technology, machines, power electronics, high-voltage technology, power system operation, SMART grids, EMC, electronics and information technology: Audio-video studio, acoustics measurement laboratory (anechoic chamber), language laboratory, virtual reality laboratory, laboratory and test field for cognitive systems, extensive equipment in the field of high-frequency and microwave technology with signal generation, signal analysis and network analysis up to 90 GHz, robot-supported measurement chamber for radio systems

Special features regarding research activities

Close involvement in the "Cognitive Systems" research cluster of BTU C-S (courses, student project, final theses, etc.);; Cooperative research projects with international partners, e.g. CERN (Geneva, Switzerland); intensive involvement of Master's students in research projects of the BMBF and the DFG; Close cooperation with non-university research institutes in high-frequency electronics, in particular with the Leibniz Institutes FBH and IHP and the Fraunhofer Institute IZM
