Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

High practical relevance due to the diverse research and development activities of the professors; Excellent networking with industry; High proportion of final theses in companies; Stays abroad are supported; Integration of teaching research projects into coursework to enable students to enhance their theoretical knowledge in practical terms in small groups using the method of problem-based learning.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Flexible compulsory elective concept for a broad spectrum and individual specialisations. Practice-oriented with the integration of current research projects (including electromobility, Industry 4.0, robotics, power electronics). Three semesters: Compulsory modules to deepen the basics taught in the Bachelor's degree course, compulsory elective modules with a research focus and project work, third semester for Master's thesis (five months). Focus on interdisciplinary, scientific skills, responsible behaviour, teamwork and social skills. Academic degree: MSc

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are cooperations with universities in Turkey, India, Jordan, Scotland, Egypt, China, Thailand, Estonia and Sweden, among others. Stays abroad (studies, practical experience).

Other special features

Sustainable development is its own teaching and research area in the Engineering Department, which works closely with other departments. It covers engineering and social science topics such as transformative sustainability science, communication, cooperation, participation and governance. In addition, it assumes a cross-sectional function in the department for all other areas, such as life cycle assessment, system analysis, consistency, efficiency and sufficiency. Diversity-sensitive initial study phase: Programme for first-year students to improve their academic success in the first year.
