Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Energy Science and Engineering programme is characterised by a high proportion of engaging forms of teaching and student mentoring programmes. Project seminars with openly formulated problems have a long tradition in the participating departments. Following the renovation of various institute buildings, approx. 1,000 m² of space is now available for student learning centres in the administrative department alone. There are over 200 computer workstations available there for students with design and simulation software (e.g. a MATLAB/Simulink).

Special features regarding the international orientation

The field of study is networked with a large number of universities in other European and non-European countries. Students can choose between double degrees and 1- or 2-semester stays abroad. Scientists use the lively exchange with their partner institutes to position their research work internationally. Mentoring programmes and individual support ensure that students integrate well into the study system.

Special features regarding the equipment

As an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary field of study, Energy Science and Engineering uses the material resources of the 8 participating departments.

Special features regarding research activities

Eight departments at TU Darmstadt are involved in the Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) degree programme. ESE graduates are therefore integrated into research activities throughout the university.

Other special features

The central location of TU Darmstadt in the Rhine-Main area and the central location of the department in the centre of Darmstadt lead to outstanding accessibility in comparison with other sites. In the field of equality in particular, the department has a very committed Equality team, which has already received several awards for its work (including the production of a podcast). In addition, the department embraces Internationalisation@home with many international students.
