Special features regarding research activities

The faculty has the following three overarching research fields: 1. Transformations of religious language in cultural contexts, 2. Dynamics of reform processes in church and society, 3. Perspectives on personal liberties in modern discourse. The chairs fill these research fields through German Research Foundation-funded (DFG) projects, among other things. Special research focuses are also provided by the Centre for Applied Pastoral Research/zap and the area of Philosophy of Religion & Theory of Science as well as the church history focus on contemporary and diocesan history.

Other special features

The Chairs of Dogmatics and the History of Dogmatics as well as Fundamental Theology are extremely committed to the topics of "gender" and "diversity". The Chair of Fundamental Theology is extremely committed to the topic of "sustainability". The faculty's local approach to equality is very visible (e.g. FINTA café). In the area of sustainability, all students have the opportunity to acquire a Sustainability certificate.
