Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

Our BA degree programme offers you a secure, modularised structure in which you can choose individual areas of focus according to your interests. There is also room for interdisciplinary content. In addition to the face-to-face courses, digital teaching formats are offered on a regular basis, which enable more flexible study. Standard formats are complemented by research-based learning so that you can actively participate in scientific projects. In addition, summer schools and excursions are offered on a regular basis.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

Our MA degree programmes offer you a secure, modularised structure in which you can choose individual areas of focus according to your interests. Research-based learning finds a central place here, so that you can actively participate in scientific projects and deepen your research skills. In addition to the face-to-face courses, digital teaching formats are offered on a regular basis, which enable more flexible study. In addition, summer schools and excursions are offered on a regular basis to expand your knowledge in international contexts.

Special features regarding the international orientation

There are cooperation agreements with the Near Eastern School of Theology in Beirut/Lebanon, the Protestant University of Rwanda, the Faculty of Public Theology in Stellenbosch/South Africa and, for several decades, with Tel Aviv. Erasmus partnerships exist with the University of Prague and the University of Bern. The faculty regularly offers excursions abroad that are carefully planned beforehand and processed afterwards. Hybrid courses are also offered as part of this and other (research and teaching) collaborations.

Special features regarding the equipment

All seminar rooms of the faculty are fully equipped with Eduroam and computer/projector systems, which are regularly updated. Video tools are available for hybrid courses. More than 75 specialist databases and portals are currently available in the field of Theology and Religious Studies. These include: ATLA, TLG, THB, BBKL, RGG, TRE.

Special features regarding research activities

Our faculty is characterised by a wide range of research focuses. Among other things, there are active partnerships with the University in Tel Aviv, the Protestant University of Rwanda and the NEST in Lebanon, which promote international exchange and intercultural cooperation. A further key focus area is gender research. Overall, our research is strongly socially oriented and aims to address current social challenges and to develop solutions that have a positive impact on society.

Other special features

Local Equality and Diversity Officers are available to all members of the Protestant Theological Faculty as points of contact. The topic of diversity is also an integral part of the curriculum. Courses in the field of sustainability are regularly offered, which are both anchored in the curriculum and open to all students as part of a Sustainability certificate.
