Special features regarding teaching

"Medicine meets pharmacy" seminar and accompanying OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations). Research-oriented elective internships, which can also be completed externally, e.g. at partner university Wuhan University, pharmaceutical companies, etc. Introduction of virtual reality in teaching within the pharmaceutical formulation internship. Topic-related excursions to pharmaceutical companies as part of lectures. Study buddy programme on starting and organising.

Special features regarding the international orientation

Large international and doctoral student exchange programme: ERASMUS with many locations; Cooperation agreement with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical College, Faculty of Pharmacy; Stays abroad in the USA (Utah) and China (Wuhan); Stays abroad can also be arranged outside of exchange programmes.

Special features regarding the equipment

Modern, well-equipped practical training rooms and research laboratories; NMR, MS, X-ray department; Bioimaging facility; Atomic force microscopy; Photon correlation spectroscopy; Rotational viscometry; Isothermal titration calorimetry; SPR; Various cell culture and S1 laboratories for animal cells, plants, fungi and bacteria. Access to the databases SciFinder, Reaxys, European pharmacopoeia (Pharm.Eur.), PubPharm and electronic journals, partly through departmental licences and through the university library; Licensing of subject-specific software for everyone in the department (e.g. ChemDraw).

Participation in LOEWE projects (research programme of the State of Hesse): Synmikro with two work groups; Participation in LOEWE Druid (with 6 work groups); LOEWE Glue (Spokesperson Dept. Pharmacy, participation with 6 work groups; intensive exchange with the pharmaceutical industry (information days, mini-symposiums, etc.); Participation in EU joint projects and other research networks; Research-intense pharmaceutical and medical history with international projects; Research focuses: neurosciences (e.g. EU consortium "EpiMiRNA"), anti-infectives, tumours and inflammation.
