Special features regarding teaching in the bachelor's degree programme

The Bachelor's degree programmes are characterised by intensive support by lecturers as well as numerous tutorials. Even with large foundation lectures, students are supervised in small groups of up to 20–30 people. Teamwork in small groups is encouraged. In several practicals, students can practice what they have learned in a practical context. The 18 credit points MarSkills programme offers a wide range of options from interdisciplinary competence modules, introductory modules from various disciplines, preparatory modules in Computer Science or a professional internship.

Special features regarding teaching in the master's programmes

The Master's degree courses are characterised by intensive support of lecturers as well as numerous tutorials and work in small groups. In a two-semester internship, students can put the methods and techniques learned into practise and deepen their understanding by working on industry-relevant projects as a team. Interdisciplinary cooperation between both the Mathematics and Computer Science department as well as with the Natural Sciences, Humanities and Economics departments plays an important role, especially in the optional minor subjects/areas of application, including the large, often application-oriented practical portion of the degree course.

Special features regarding the international orientation

In the Master's degree programmes in Computer Science and Data Science, the courses offered in Marburg are in English. Students can choose individually between English and German for homework, quizzes and exams. In the Bachelor, up to 15 CP from (English-language) Master modules can be included. In addition, English Bachelor modules are occasionally offered. Individual events are hybrid as part of the MarburgOnline: VirtualExchange.
