Admission requirements

• First professionally qualifying Bachelor’s academic degree or comparable from a university in the field of Nautical Science with at least 240 credit points and • Valid Nautical Watch Officer (NWO) certificate of competence in accordance with Section 29 (1) Sentence 1 Number 1 of the Seafarers' Qualification Ordinance without restrictions in accordance with Section 9 of the Seafarers' Qualification Ordinance or • Certificate of competence in accordance with point 1 recognised as equivalent for the nautical maritime service of another Member State of the European Union or State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. If 240 ECTS credits cannot be proved, a maximum of 30 ECTS credits can be recognised on application. In addition, written confirmation of admission as a maritime pilot candidate from the Directorate-General of Waterways and Shipping (GDWS) to one of the pilot fraternities referred to in Section 1 (4) of the Practice Time Regulations (Annex 6) must be submitted.
