Beim Masterstudium Mathematik handelt es sich um ein weiterführendes Studium, das auf ein abgeschlossenes grundständiges Studium der Mathematik oder einen vergleichbaren Abschluss aufbaut. Es findet eine Vertiefung in einem Spezialgebiet der eigenen Wahl statt. Forschungsschwerpunkte in Regensburg sind Arithmetische Geometrie, Globale Analysis und Geometrie und Angewandte Analysis. Das Masterstudium an der Universität Regensburg führt an die aktuelle mathematische Forschung heran und legt die Grundlage für eine anschließende Promotion auf internationalem Niveau.

Annotation

Mathematiker/innen sind nicht nur besonders qualifiziert für Berufe, in denen konkrete mathematische Probleme eine Rolle spielen, sondern auch dort, wo strukturiertes, problemorientiertes und kreatives Denken erforderlich ist. Sie arbeiten z. B. in folgenden Bereichen: Banken und Versicherungen, Forschung und Entwicklung, Softwareproduktion, IT-Dienstleistungen, Elektronik: Telekommunikation, Medizintechnik, Unterhaltungselektronik, Unternehmensberatung, Management.

Admission requirements

Requirements for admission to the Master's programme are: 1. Successfully completed university degree or equivalent with at least six semesters of standard period of study in mathematics or a related subject with an average grade of at least 'good' (2.5) 2. Proof of in-depth knowledge in mathematics amounting to at least 18 credit points corresponding to the advanced module BV of the Bachelor's degree programme in Mathematics at the University of Regensburg. 3 . Proof of command of English to language level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)\; Evidence may also be provided by way of an equivalent TOEFL or IELTS test, or by other equivalent certificates. 4. For applicants with a grade lower than 'good' (2.5) or a non-equivalent qualification, the qualification specific to the course will be reviewed through an aptitude procedure.
