You will learn one of the three modern languages of the region (Turkish, Persian, Arabic) or the historical Akkadian language. In addition, the major will enable you to understand the historical background and to place and discuss different contemporary cultures of the Middle East in an academic context. A broad range of elective modules (e.g. The World of the Ancient Near East, Economics of the Middle East or Islam and Society) will help you hone your specialist skills.
