Target group

Graduates of a specialised relevant Bachelor’s degree in Media Science or a comparable German or international professionally qualifying degree with a considerable component of specialised media science modules (at least 60 CP).

Annotation

General information: The Master’s degree programme "Media and Cultural Practice: History, Aesthetics, Theory" is designed for students who already have a professionally qualifying certificate of academic degree or a relevant Bachelor’s degree and have a particular interest in the in-depth, research-oriented exploration of modern media cultures and an above-average talent for audiovisual impressions. Media studies in this sense is understood as a historical-hermeneutic discipline in a cultural-historical and cultural-scientific perspective. The course focuses on the audiovisual media of film and television as well as digital media and multimedia configurations. It explores the conditions under which these media emerged, their production and reception as specific forms of socio-cultural practice, and the theoretical explanations and attributions that have accompanied and continue to accompany the history of these media.
