Annotation

Central challenges of our society are climate change, the decline of biodiversity, socio-ecological transformations and health. Those who choose this Master's degree programme will deal scientifically with these challenges and develop creative and innovative concepts for a sustainable and liveable environment in the city and in rural areas. Existing ideas are to be critically examined and further thought through, and new ideas are to be tested and discussed. We are working in various Master's specialising on design, planning concepts and scientifically based strategies for future spaces. Master graduates act in a social context: They analyse, develop and design landscapes and urban open spaces as functional and identification spaces. The Master's degree programme is research-oriented in its profile and is capable of scientific work as well as reflected planning and design. An important goal of this degree is the acquisition of the so-called "chamber ability", because only members of the architects' and planners' chambers have access to all the possibilities of the profession. Based on current questions from research and practice, an in-depth basic knowledge is taught at the University of Kassel in four semesters. Graduates work in a structural-spatial or strategic-conceptual context. They apply their design, planning, conceptual and scientific knowledge and skills in complex and interdisciplinary contexts. Four Master's specialisations contribute to an individual study profile and help to orientate to the requirements of different professional fields. Students can specialise in the areas of "landscape architecture and open space planning", "landscaping and plant use", "environmental planning and landscape management" and "urban design". Part-time study is quite possible due to the course of study in this degree course. Upon request, you can register for part-time studies in accordance with Section 19 (2) Hesse Higher Education Act (HessHG). The specific provisions for part-time studies will then apply. Counselling by the subject-specific student advice service is recommended.
