Annotation

The MA degree course "History and Publicity" is divided into two fields of study: On the one hand, the research-oriented subject-oriented module area A deals with essential dimensions of society/culture and corresponding levels of access to history from antiquity to immediate contemporary history. Here you will acquire in-depth knowledge of the influence of ideas, ideologies and social processes, of the role of individual and structural factors in history as well as of the importance of space and time for historical processes. On the other hand, the practical methodological module area B provides professional skills of written and oral presentation and communication of historical knowledge in various media contexts and genres. For this purpose, existing collaborations with archives, museums and institutions in the city of Kassel and the region are being used and further collaborations are being specifically developed. These qualification goals are supported firstly by the required internship, which offers you a special insight into practice and which can be completed, for example, at one of the cooperation institutions, and secondly by the option, anchored in the curriculum, to complete a semester abroad, as well as by the acquisition of key skills. Part-time study is quite possible due to the course of study in this degree course. Upon request, you can register for part-time studies in accordance with Section 19 (2) Hesse Higher Education Act (HessHG). The specific provisions for part-time studies will then apply. Counselling by the subject-specific student advice service is recommended.
